Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe airport and transfer to Jinja for Water Rafting on River Nile.

Begin your journey in Uganda by departing from Entebbe airport and enjoying breakfast in Entebbe town. From there, drive to Kampala and continue on one of Uganda’s busiest roads towards Jinja. Along the way, you’ll pass through Lugazi sugar plantations and tea estates, as well as roadside markets and restaurants where you can try local fast-food delicacies like beef and chicken on a stick.

As you approach Mabira Forest, you’ll have the opportunity to take a walk through the lush rainforest. Despite being threatened by deforestation, the forest remains home to over 300 bird species, 218 butterfly species, and a variety of monkeys and other mammals. Walking through the canopy of this African rainforest is a truly spiritual experience, with the sounds of birds and monkeys breaking the silence.

After your walk, head to the Nile Guesthouse for lunch at the lovely restaurant, perched on a hill overlooking the Nile River. From there, take a short drive to the source of the Nile, a quiet park filled with palm trees and tropical plants. As you stand on the banks of the Nile, you can hear the gurgling water and see fishermen throwing their nets, taking in the history of John Hanning Speke, the first European to see the River Nile.

Take a boat ride to the actual source of the Nile, providing an excellent opportunity to take great pictures. Afterwards, head into town, once the industrial capital of Uganda, now a quiet city with plenty of old Indian-style homes reflecting the Indian influence in the area. Browse shops along the main road and buy Ugandan crafts before retiring to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
