Mountain Elgon is an extinct volcano and the 4th highest mountain in East Africa reaching 4321 metres, the park has magnificent waterfalls, caves, gorges and hot springs and is excellent for hiking. No technical climbing equipments or skills are needed and all major peaks are accessible to hikers. the full trekking circuit takes 4-5 days to complete, and there are also 3 day trail, 3-7 km long.The magnificent sipi falls are 66 km north of Mbale en route the forest Exploration centre and Kapkwata. Accommodation, there are 5 basic campsites around the trekking circuit, simple accommodation is available at kapkwata rest house, and the forest exploration centre at kapwai. Access: Good road tar roads from Kampala to Sipi falls Eastern Uganda.

DAY 1: JINJA SOURCE OF RIVER NILE.

After early breakfast, we shall head off from Kampala to Mabira Forest where hikers will enjoy visiting the forest for an interesting forest walk, have a picnic and also take lunch. The group will then enjoy traditional dances by a local women dancing group. There are many options this day, such as swimming, boat rides, floating on the robust and mighty Nile. Sipi falls DAY 2: JINJA-MOUNTAIN ELGON:

After early breakfast, you will head off to Mbale, Eastern Uganda and leave for Mt Elgon. You will then be transferred to Sipi Falls. After lunch, hike to the falls, cultural tour and return to your camp next to Sipi Falls for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: ELGON MOUNTAIN HIKING:

Take breakfast and then resume the hike following the Kapkwata Trail. A scenic hike through the bamboo, heath and moorland gets you to the Piswa camp at 2850 meters. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the mountains.

DAY 4: ELGON MOUNTAIN HIKING:

Trek up to the verge of the calderas through beautiful columns of Lobelia Elgonensis. Visit Hot Springs and Suam Gorge before descending to the hunters cave Camp 3850m.

DAY 5: MOUNTAIN HIKING”

Take breakfast and ascend to the top of the calderas to the Wagagai Peak at 4321m. Descend thereafter through the Jackson summit and the Jackson pool to overnight at Mude Camp 3500m

DAY 6: FROM MOUNTAIN ELGON – KAMPALA:

Early morning, descend through the Sasa trail to Budadiri then travel to Mbale town. En route to Kampala for your departure. Have the last Dinner and overnight at Speke Hotel Kampala.

The clients may choose to visit places they didn’t go to on arrival. This may include the Uganda museum, Kasubi Tombs, National Theatre to buy arts and crafts, and many more with the help of our driver/ guide. But this will depend on your time of departure. Later you will be transferred to the Airport at your convenient time.
